Domaine Pierre Boisson
Burgundy, France
Since 2017, the prestigious vineyards of Domaine Boisson-Vadot have been bottled separately under the Anne Boisson and Pierre Boisson labels—though rest assured, these wines still remain of the finest quality to be found in Meursault. With family roots dating back in the village over 200 years, it’s safe to say that Pierre and Anne know a thing or two about White Burgundy.
Although the Boissons have operated quietly alongside some of their more famous Meursault-based neighbors, those in the know have long been aware of the understated excellence of these small-batch wines. Until recently, the family’s bottles stayed mostly in Burgundy, though as of late, the wines have garnered a serious following amongst international wine professionals and collectors alike—just pop the cork on one and you’ll see why.
In addition to centuries old savoir-faire, Boisson wines are crafted from a high amount of very old vines, which bring natural concentration and depth to the final wines. Meticulous work is executed in both the vineyard and the cellar, and new oak/lees stirring are implemented with the utmost restraint (only 25-30% in top wines, and significantly less for regional cuvées).
From Bourgogne Blanc to Les Grands Charrons, the wines of Pierre Boisson regularly punch above their weight (that is, show beyond their village-level status), and firmly merit a spot in reputable cellars everywhere.
