Domaine Rossignol-Trapet
Burgundy, France
Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet was established by the marriage of Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet in 1961. Since 1990, the property has been overseen by the pair’s sons, Nicolas and David Rossignol, who are long-standing believers in organic and biodynamic farming. While both families have revered histories in the villages of Volnay and Gevrey-Chambertin, their vineyard holdings span a variety of appellations, located across both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
Today, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet comprises 13 hectares in total. The brothers farm within a number of grand cru sites, including Le Chambertin and Latricières-Chambertin. All of Rossignol-Trapet’s vineyards became certified biodynamic in 2005, far before doing so was fashionable or trendy in any way. Thanks to the long-standing presence of biodynamics, Rossignol-Trapet’s vines are rooted in some of the most dynamic soils in Burgundy. As prices for vines in the Côte de Nuits have skyrocketed, the forward-thinking brothers have set their sites on the southerly Côte de Beane, most notably in the premier cru of Beaune Les Teurons and village of Savigny-lès-Beaune. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet wines are known for their elegance, purity, and utterly reflective nature.
